Why anticipate a drop in the Washington Wizards?
The three-headed monster of John Wall, Bradley Beal and Otto Porter Jr. continues to be trending up. Each man is moving toward his athletic prime and building chemistry with the other members of this triumvirate while trying to assert himself as a premier talent at his respective position. Wall is currently there, and another two are not far behind.
And if you are concerned about the seat, do not be–just not for the reason you may expect.
Last year’s second-stringers were atrocious. They routinely squandered leads and dug inevitable holes to the starters. This season’s chair set shouldn’t be much better, as Tim Frazier, Jodie Meeks and Mike Scott are not precisely marquee additions. And that’s almost irrelevant.
The non-starters are poor. We are aware that much. However, the starters are still in place, and the Wizards published an 8.1 internet rating last year when Wall, Beal, Porter, Markieff Morris and Marcin Gortat were around the ground together. In spite of the putridity behind them, they pulled their troops to 49 wins.
So again, why should we expect anything else this year, especially when the group was in the second half than through the year’s opening salvo?
