Alan Shearer-style celebration not on my mind, says Jonny May ahead of St James’ Park visit
Jonny May says he’s given any thought to a Alan Shearer-style party if he strikes an attempt at St James’ Park.
England face Italy in their final World Cup warm-up in Newcastle on Friday night, live on Sky Sports, with Eddie Jones likely to field a strong side ahead of his side’s championship opener against Tonga.
May is looking forward to playing in the historic house of the Magpies, but says not to expect that a familiar sight if he crosses the whitewash on Tyneside.
“No, I had not ever thought about that yet,” May told Sky Sports when asked about a potential Shearer celebration. “I think that it’s really good to engage everyone across the nation, so to go up north and play a game there is brilliant.
“It’s a very cool stadium, lots of history . I’m really excited about it.”
The winger says it has been a, for a few warm-weather training together with the group back in Italy this week, and would like to return to playing .
“It’s been a long time arriving. It feels as though we’ve worked hard for a long time period today,” said May.
“We’ve been back in Treviso this week getting some extra tough work in. It is likely to come around fast today.”
The Leicester guy isn’t thinking much about what Japan says the only ideas of that the team are on winning the trophy, and offers out of their grounds.
When asked what excites him about Japan, the 29-year-old said:”I just can’t wait to have at the scene and play some French.
“Only to find out, play some rugbyand adopt the atmosphere, play at a World Cup, reflect your country – these items are all exciting.
“The notion is to peak out there in Japan and also to summit in the closing. We want to go out there and get it.”
