MENA Tour: Robin Tiger Williams cruises to eight-shot win in Jordan
An amateur golfer named after a Tiger-like finish was produced by Tiger Woods to his first victory in a professional event on the MENA Tour to storm.
Englands Robin Tiger Williams followed a four-under 68 to an eight-shot victory at the Journey To Jordan 2, the sixth event of the year to cruise with 66s.
By completing five birdies williams, who represented Team Europe at the 2018 Junior Ryder Cup, took a five-shot advantage in to the final day in the Greg Norman-designed Ayla Golf Resort and closed out victory in style.
The quick finish of the 18-year-old saw him end the week 16 beneath in minute, with fellow Jack Floydd in his MENA Tour look following a bogey-free 67 on the last moment.
Williams, who started the week 100th from the World Amateur Golf Rankings, becomes just the third largest amateur to win the MENA Tour after Indias Rayhan Thomas in the 2016 Dubai Creek Open along with Netherlands Pierre Junior Verlaar at the 2017 Royal Golf Mohammedia Open.
The two players on the MENA Tour Order of Merit, Daniel Gaunt along with also MG Keyser, finished the week at a share of third, although Miguel Jimenez Jr – that the son of amazing Miguel Angel Jimenez – claimed that a share of 37th.
