England bowling coach Chris Silverwood has emerged to replace Trevor Bayliss as head coach.
He could be piped by Silverwood into the role although reports connected South African Gary Kirsten to the job.
After contributing Essex to their first County Championship title in 25 years that the summer months the fast bowler, who played six Tests for England, became bowling coach.
A statement is expected next week.
The new trainers first assignment in control of England are the tour of New Zealand, in which internationals are followed by two evaluation.
They would inherit a team thats the world champion side and will probably be seeking to do the double in the T20 World Cup in Australia in 2020.
But, in accordance with the directions of director of cricket Ashley Giles, who has said that England will place a renewed focus on red-ball cricketthat the objective will be to enhance an erratic Test teams fortunes.
It is Giles whos ultimately responsible for the appointment of this coach that is new – one that could be a surprise given the tide of aid for Kirsten at the past week.
Giles supported Silverwoods credentials as long ago and failed state his taste for appointing an Englishman.
Giles looks likely to select against splitting the head coachs role with the newest head coach, between the Test and limited-overs sides.
It was invited to a last interview and is known former England captain Alec Stewart made the shortlist.
However, the Surrey director of cricket retreated in the reckoning because of the requirements of the effect and the program .
Bayliss resigned from the function after the drawn Ashes series against Australia of this summer.
