The Usyks fast hands and feet turned into a nightmare for its Witherspoon in Chicago, and he landed punches before his opponent could not continue.
The victory was a textbook debut in the heavyweight division for Usyk, that last year became the undisputed cruiserweight champion by winning the World Boxing Super Series. He immediately signalled his intention to eventually become the boxer to bring a heavyweight domain to cruiserweight gold.
Usyk was two and a half stone lighter compared to his opponent, and it revealed, since he glided in and out of scope but it gave his extra speed.
His hand in the southpaw stance started to slide through Witherspoons protector of finding his time, after a few rounds.
Witherspoon, a 38-year-old who arrived at a couple of days notice to replace Tyrone Spong, tried to thunder counter punches and he could never be discouraged by him, even though he did grab Usyk.
Usyks movement began to drown. The Allied managed to land shots at will at the first time round. The referee considered quitting the struggle here, but did not act.
In the Usyk searched for its knockout, landing a barrage of shots that are unanswered. Witherspoon remained upright but wilted back to his stool, and couldnt catch up.
Usyk keeps his status as the challenger to the WBO title that Andy Ruiz Jr will defend against Anthony Joshua on December 7, now live on Sky Sports Box Office. Following year usyk hopes to question the winner.
