Chelsea director Frank Lampard along with manager Jurgen Klopp were left to reflect penalty incidents since they started their Champions League campaigns with beats.
Ross Barkley missed a late opportunity to equalise in the place for Chelsea since they lost 1-0 at home to Valencia.
Meanwhile, Napoli goal in their 2-0 win over holders Liverpool came from a suspicious spot-kick.
“For me personally it’s very clear and clear, no punishment,” said Klopp.
German referee Felix Brych pointed to the place with eight minutes once Andy Robertson was judged to have fouled Jose Callejon, left.
The spot-kick was converted by dries Mertens before former Tottenham striker Fernando Llorente secured the win with a target in stoppage-time.
“Callejon jumps before he’s got some contact,” additional Klopp. “But we can’t change that we need to be crucial with ourselves.
“We did well in a great deal of moments, we played with lots of very good football but we didn’t finish ”
When he watched Barkley’s late attempt clip at on the cover of the pub, chelsea boss Lampard was likewise left to rue a key penalty incident.
There were confounding scenes minutes before when it originally appeared like last month Jorginho, that shopped for Chelsea in their Super Cup defeat, was about to take the penalty.
Barkley was ended up carrying the ball after talks with a number of his team-mates such as Brazilian ruler Cesar Azpilicueta.
“Ross is a penalty ,” said Lampard. “He scored a few in pre-season and that he was now when he arrived and he chased it.
“I don’t understand what the conversation was. Jorginho and Willian would be the punishment takers about the pitch and when Ross comes on he also becomes the penalty taker and he overlooked it”
The miss capped a night for Chelsea, who saw midfielder Mason Mount pushed off with a shoulder injury.
“We probably should have won, or at least obtained a lure,” additional Lampard. “We made enough opportunities we had the penalty, and we surrendered with their shot on target.
“It is a harsh lesson but that’s Champions League football. We ought to have more tonight.”
Like Lampard, Klopp felt his side earned a time, together with defeat significance that they are the winners of the contest to eliminate the opening match of the following effort because AC Milan in 1994.
“This was a much better match than we played when we lost 1-0 at the last second [into Napoli last season],” said Klopp. “It was an open match, in minutes we controlled the game, but we had a lot of counter-attacks and did not finish them off.
“That’s an issue. Then we had this match, we ran, they ran. They’ve killed everybody on the pitch, and started controlling again and then we’ve conceded a penalty. Of course that does not help and I’ve seen it today, I do not think that’s a penalty.”
Regardless of the defeat Lampard is confident his side can advance from the team, however he wants his side to bounce back fast when they sponsor Liverpool in the Premier League this weekend.
“That is the reality of the Champions League. This means the following two games against Lille and Ajax are somewhat more significant, particularly return away from your home,” said the former England midfielder.
“We will have strong focus on these games to try and obtain a result but in context it’s 1 game done in a set where groups can take points off each other. There’s absolutely no reason to be downbeat.
“It wasn’t a bad performance tonight. Liverpool would be the best team in the nation on shape and we have to be ready for it”
