Willian insisted that although suffering a challenging start to the season, Chelsea possess the group to struggle for”titles” this year.
Chelsea have won only one of the first four league games, losing 4-0 to Manchester United on the opening afternoon and have been held by newly-promoted Sheffield United, in home, from the match.
A transfer ban has ensured new supervisor Frank Lampard has experienced his choices limited at the onset of his sanity, but forward Willian, in an interview with Sky Sports, is determined the club’s young players may carry them forward this campaign.
“I think Chelsea could win some titles this year,” Willian stated. “I am aware that it’ll be challenging this season to win titles, as standard, it’s always hard.
“It’s difficult when you lose players such as David Luiz, Eden Hazard, however we’ve got some quality young players who will improve a good deal and in the future become one of the greatest players in the league. I think we have a team that is wonderful.
“But Chelsea is a large club and this shirt is hefty. We go to win, when Chelsea enter a contest.
“It is not important that the players, it does not matter the coach, every year we would like to acquire something, and I believe this season we can do it .”
Willian also commended the work Lampard has set in so much, believing the club need time to adapt to his methods.
“It has been good to work with him,” Willian additional. “He is a great man. The quality of instruction has been great.
“Of course we must provide some time to adapt, it’s a new profile, a new philosophy, but I think we will adapt.”
With less than a year left on his contract, the long term future at Chelsea of 31-year-old Willian remains unclear, particularly given the reality that the Brazilian is to begin a competitive match under Lampard.
Willian believes his fitness center goes back and he is raring to go, if he be called upon.
“I had an injury once I was at Copa America and that I needed a while in practice to recuperate, but I am 100 percent,” Willian added. “I have to continue to train hard and when I have time to play with I have to play well.”
