Premier League Brighton leading way for fan inclusion
Sky Sports News followed Jack Holloway-Bartle and Brighton & Hove Albion Lovers George for their matchday experience at Falmer at the Amex.
George is a wheelchair user and he and his brother Jack are autistic.
Seeing Brighton is a huge portion of George’s life and taking part in game has helped him. “I have trouble walking across the scene. My wheelchair means a lot personally and is helpful to me. The stadium is fantastic and the staff are brilliant. Just being at the games assists me, the atmosphere is simply brilliant.”
There are lifts and broader corridors to allow for wheelchair access. Therefore that he could get a wheelchair of his very own brighton charity, Albion from the Community, held a fundraiser for George back.
George added,”They’ve done brilliantly, they have done really good. Donating that chair to me was great.”
He is taken by george’s dad Matthew Bartle younger brother Jack to the home of Brighton games.
“I requires quite a little lot of time to get the boys ready for a game since they both have additional demands. Together with my youngest Jack, he requires a serene atmosphere for a time period leading up to depart and receives a whole good deal of stress.
“Once we get there we’ve got a handicapped parking space in the ground. There’s also a lift to get us up to the place where Jack and George sit, it’s excellent.
“The bar has got the balance right. Between having the facilities and making individuals feel included. Theyfeel a part of the team and’re not segregated. For me personally as a parent that is vital.”
Staff at the stadium are trained to assist supporters who don’t have visual needs. Millie Crowhurst is the disability liaison officer of Brighton & Hove Albion and would like to make every enthusiast texture included.
“Inside the ground we’ve got a hidden disability wristband scheme for our supporters that need it. They could demonstrate that this wristband to any member of safety or steward and they will provide help.
“All staff receive special training because of this. We got an inclusion room. We are the first in the Premier League to have this. It is for supporters who might struggle to take a seat in the primary arena to start with.”
