Ryder Cup 2020: Robert Karlsson named as European vice-captain
European Ryder Cup captain Padraig Harrington has named Robert Karlsson as his first vice-captain for its 2020 competition.
Karlsson represented Europe in Ryder Cups as a player, prior to returning to play at the defeat at Valhalla 2 years 34, including at the record-breaking win at the K Club.
The Swede also functioned alongside Harrington as part of Thomas Bjorn’s backroom staff for the 2018 contest, where Europe ran out convincing 16.5-11.5 winners at Le Golf National.
Three points were enrolled by karlsson for Europe and was beaten thrashing Justin Leonard from the singles at 2008 and forming an unbeaten partnership with Paul Casey throughout the 2006 contest.
The 49-year-old brings plenty of expertise to the team, also and having listed 11 Tour successes from over 600 looks previously won the European Tour’s Order of Merit.
Qualification for Europe Ryder Cup team gets underway with the year-long campaign running through to the exact same event in September 2020, at the BMW PGA Championship.
At which Europe will be bidding to retain the trophy and enroll just their fifth away victory in the biennial contest the 2020 Ryder Cup takes place from September 25-27 2020 at Wisconsin.
