Police investigate alleged racist abuse at Hartlepool United match
Cleveland Police are investigating an incident at Hartlepool United during which players were allegedly racially abused.
The initial half of ‘ 2-0 National League overcome by Dover in Victoria Park on Saturday was delayed by 11 moments as a result of an exchange between players – including the home team Gus Mafuta – and – spectators after Inih Effiong had opened the scoring with a 37th-minute penalty.
A police spokesman stated:”Cleveland Police is investigating these allegations.

Although the two sets of players needed to carry on dover manager Andy Hessenthaler revealed after the match that he was prepared to take his crew off the pitch and also that number Craig Hignett was in agreement.

Maguire, who revealed he had spoken to the victims of this misuse and promised them that the strongest possible actions would be taken against the perpetrators, said:”I can honestly say I have never seen a game of football like that however it is necessary that we separate our response to the game, and also the officers, into the events following Dover’s first objective.
“Whatever the rights and wrongs of the decision or the aftermath into the punishment that was scored, Hartlepool United utterly prohibits stereotypical behavior of any description.
“We are proudly inclusive as a team and we are aware that the vast majority of Pools lovers can join us in position against actions and words which have no place in society or football.”
