Resources for Veterans. USC currently has about 900 veterans at both the undergraduate and graduate level and is deeply committed to providing veterans with various support services. You will find many resources that will help you both initiate your education benefits as well as assist you with the transition to campus life.

The two main offices at USC that support veterans are the Veterans Certification Office and the Transfer Success & Veteran Student Program.

Veterans Certification workplace: The goal with this working workplace is always to help initiate and process your education advantages, namely the GI Bill and Yellow Ribbon Program. Within the GI Bill programs may be the Post-9/11 GI Bill, which gives a maximum of $19,198.31 toward tuition and mandatory charges. This is certainly where the Yellow Ribbon (YR) Program is available in. YR provides funding that is additional veterans who would like to go to private organizations. Every 12 months about 60% of our applicants that are first-year for the December 1st merit-based scholarship deadline. We receive over 47,000 applications it is therefore a process that is extremely competitive. These students are attaining at the highest level across the board. We award the Trustee full-tuition scholarship, Presidential half-tuition scholarship, and the one-quarter tuition Deans scholarship. ‘Wait. So all I have to do is submit my application by December 1st?’

More often than not, yes! (There are exceptions to this; see the response to the following question). To be viewed, first-year students only need to submit the Common Application and USC Writing Supplement, on or before December 1st (for transfer pupils to be considered for transfer merit scholarships the deadline is February 1st). The merit-based scholarships administered by any office of Admission only need submission regarding the Application that is common and Writing Supplement for consideration. We are looking for all types of students. There clearly was not just a secret algorithm that determines whether a student is worthy of a scholarship. We evaluate everything within the application, considering both qualitative and factors that are quantitative. For those applicants that are first-year applied by December 1st, notifications is going to be released by the start of February 2014. Consideration for some scholarships requires a call to campus for the interview that is in-person. Pupils who do maybe not receive a scholarship will remain considered for regular admission.
