Liverpool too far ahead in Premier League title race, says Chris Kirkland
Liverpool are already far ahead of the Premier League rivals to be captured this season, according to Reds goalkeeper Chris Kirkland.
Following the defending champions suffered a shock defeat at the Etihad to Wolves last weekend moved eight points clear of Manchester City.
Liverpool maintained a seven-point lead over City midway through last season before losing the title by a point on the final day of this campaign.
Kirkland thinks his team are too far ahead this year to let City another comeback.
When asked when the Premier League title is really on its way to Anfield, Kirkland stated:I honestly do believe it is.
Last year was so unlucky. People today state losing by one point was devastating, I would have dropped by one point compared to be 15, 16 points behind City.
I think with Citys injury problems they have got in the back, [Aymeric] Laporte is a huge miss, Vincent Kompany is a huge overlook for these. In the back it is possible to get at them.
When we perform with them, if we can take points off them then all the sudden youre talking double amounts. Would you see us losing five matches this year? Not how we are playing.
Liverpool have the chance to break the Premier League list of 18 consecutive wins and have won eight of their league games this year.
The Reds can fit Citys record should they overcome bitter rivals Manchester United at OId Trafford on October 20, live on Sky Sports.
What a position to perform it. You would not put it beyond them, added Kirkland.
Manchester United are going through a tough spell but Ole [Gunnar Solskjaer] can be sure they are up for this particular match.
The fans know what that means but I expect people to move there and get a result, I just dont think that they can prevent us.
How we proceed forward, how we defend, were strong all over the pitch. I believe well find the three points.
