Paul Mitchell turns down Premier League return to take on global Red Bull role

As many as four Premier League clubs are left disappointed after one of Europe’s most gift spotters signed Red Bull on a new contract.
Sky Sports News has heard the former Spurs and Southampton recruiting chief has turned down a host of lucrative offers to return to the Premier League and will abandon his present function as Head of Recruitment and Development at RB Leipzig in the end of September to become Technical Director of Red Bull’s Global Soccer division.
In less than two decades, Mitchell has reconstructed a Leipzig squad which sits unbeaten on top of the Bundesliga after four games and returned home in Lisbon on Wednesday morning following a 2-1 win away to Benfica in the Champions League, courtesy of two goals in nine minutes from Germany striker Timo Werner.
What is more striking is that the Leipzig facet is the youngest in the Bundesliga – a group anticipated to challenge the likes of Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund in the seasons.
Mitchell has been connected with director functions in Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United as well as having offerings from other European and Indian Bundesliga clubs.
In his new role, while also working with squads in Red Bull Bragantino along with New York Red Bulls in Brazil, Mitchell will continue to affect development.
Red Bull are understood to have worked hard for at least six weeks to tempt Mitchell to remain and are thrilled to have their precious asset under contract for a further 3 decades.
As it’ll be based in Buckinghamshire in his family home, the function is anticipated to visit Mitchell return into the United Kingdom.
The 38-year older, who hails in the Manchester suburb of Denton, is credited with jeweled skills such as Sadio Mane, Dusan Tadic and Dejan Lovren while in Southampton – and then Toby Alderweireld, Dele Alli and Heung-Min Son if he was reunited with Mauricio Pochettino at Spurs.
His youthful Leipzig squad was boosted in the summer using all the arrivals of both Ademola Lookman in Everton for 16.2m and also the loan signing of Chelsea’s Ethan Ampadu and PSG Christopher Nkunku.
