Last night was another amazing night of darts. Chisnalls triumph in a thriller over Cost was the best game of the day. Nathan Aspinall continued to impress and now he could be the dark horse . Gurney was disappointing and I am shocked at the manner in which he dropped. The next round kicks off and I have two picks.
It landed on the night and I am surprised this evening bookies are offering odds against on Michael Smith 180s. He took a while to get moving against Simon Whitlock but when he did he was at his very best. Whitlock should have won that match but he did not shut it out and Smith will feel great if he wasnt in his best until the close of the 34, he won. Ian White should not have won and has been allowed off the hook from Joe Cullen. He hit one 180 in the 3 sets in contrast to Michael Smiths four. I cant see White fitting him In case smith starts.
My suggestion of this evening comes from the clash between Jeffrey de Zwaan and Michael Van Gerwen. MVG endured a scare to undergo the initial round. He missed opportunities and doesnt look at his very finest. De Zwaan breezed with simplicity ago Steve Beaton and that will give him plenty of confidence. So that there needs to be more to come from him too he performs when his opponent is playing well. He is a really great scorer and strong to the doubles. Most of us remember when he beat Michael at the Matchplay last year and whilst there might not be an upset like that again, I think Jeffrey de Zwaan +1.5 places at 6/4 is strong.
