Cardinals part ways with veteran CB David Amerson

Most teams use the last day of minicamp as a cool until revving again for training camp. The Arizona Cardinals chose to use Thursday to make a move.
The Cardinals released veteran cornerback David Amerson, whom the team signed as a free agent last November.
The move comes as a small surprise to get a group which will be without All-Pro corner Patrick Peterson for the first six matches of the regular season.

Given his expertise, Amerson was expected to be the one to temporarily take Peterson’s location alongside free-agent signee Robert Alford, but now the staff will look to second-round draft pick Byron Murphy, veteran Tramaine Brock, or perhaps talent elsewhere for a replacement. The Cardinals do have four additional corners on the roster.
Amerson’s release might be a indication that Murphy showed improvement throughout organized group activities, per Darren Urban of the group’s official site, allowing Arizona to cut a participant with 61 career starts to his name.
Arizona has yet to declare the corresponding movement but it’s well worth noting that NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported earlier Thursday that the team could be hosting former Miami Dolphins defensive end Andre Branch.
